AppleEase is a set of two system 7 utilities (AppleEaseIn & AppleEaseOut). They are a complimenting pair that make dealing with System 7's AppleMenu much easer.
AppleEaseIn is an Application that works in "drop box" fashion, if you drag the icon of an application or file onto the icon for AppleEaseIn an alias of the file will be put in the AppleMenu Items folder and will then appear in the AppleMenu. Also, if you hold down the option key while dragging something to the AppleEaseIn icon the original file will go to the AppleMenu Items folder (NOTES: 1. This method will not work across volumes; the file must be on the startup volume 2. If you drag an alias to AppleEaseIn and hold down the option key THE ORIGINAL FILE will go to the AppleMenu Items folder not the alias you dragged). Another feature is available if you hold down the command key while dragging an item to the AppleEaseIn icon an alias of the item will be put in the Startup Items folder so when you restart that item will be automatically started.
AppleEaseOut is an INIT (Er, thats Extension in Apple's newspeak) so in order to use it load it into the Extensions folder (inside the system folder) and restart your macintosh. With AppleEaseOut installed you can select an item from the AppleMenu with the option key pressed and it will be moved from the AppleMenu Items folder out to the Desktop.
These utilities are both things that I personally found a need for I hope you will also.
While I retain the rights to AppleEaseIn & AppleEaseOut these utilities are absolutely free to any individual. All I ask is that you let me know what you think of AppleEase. (of course, I won't turn down a $1.00 donation to the Peter Kaplan Bermuda fund)
